Foundation Year
This one-year orientation course is available for those who wish to experience life and work in a community with children and adults with mild and severe learning disabilities. The main emphasis in the course is on practical experience in the daily tasks. The formal lessons take place one half day a week and one evening every other week. The lessons include a variety of topics, which give a basic introduction to Camphill life and Anthroposophy, as well as statutory requirements and other activities. The Foundation Course forms the basis for the three year Course in Curative Education and Social Therapy.
Camphill Training Course
Life and work, as well as responding to the needs of the children and adults in the Camphill community are the foundation for this training. Participants in the course join a house community and share in the daily life and work, as well as in the manifold social and cultural activities of the community. Tasks may include the care of a small group of children or living in a house community with young adults or adults under the guidance of the house parents. Additional tasks may include assisting in a classroom or workshop. Through practical application, the course participant gradually works towards a growing responsibility in the community.
The course takes place one day a week and one evening every other week. Block courses are offered by visiting teachers and the schedule for these courses may differ from the usual programme. In each year of the course written assignments and artistic work are required. The individual progress of the course participant is evaluated on a regular basis in tutorials.
